Abstract: new theory and method of innovative product evolutionary design based on semantics unit was presented. The new theory and method was discussed with evolutionary principles of design concepts and process in integrated platform from viewpoint of innovation and reuse properties for creative product. Key technologies, such as product motion evolutionary design, assembly evolutionary design, structure evolutionary design and reuse evolutionary design, were researched in particular. Furthermore, the new method has been successfully applied in the modeling of some projects and has achieved positive responses in its utility, flexibility and robustness. Experiment results indicated that this method could help designers express product design information more naturally and accurately from high-level semantics layer, and it has realized the support for computer-aided innovative design.
