Abstract: To optimize process model in product R & D under resource constraints, a modeling method of product development process by applying Graphical Evaluation and Review Technique (GERT) was proposed. Based on the work breakdown structure, a hierarchical GERT network was established to describe the product development process. The activity-time parameters in the process were calculated, and the resource conflicts among parallel activities could be resolved by re-adjusting the activities according to the weighted time-resource priority rule. Finally, an illustrative example is given to show that it is an effective approach for modeling and analyzing the product development process.
